Reflections Friday
[Bonus: One month to Climb the Peak for MS--see below*]
We went to the wedding of dear friends last weekend in Maryland, offering a wonderful opportunity to also visit Annapolis and friends there. As we strolled the downtown streets on Friday, we realized it was May Day, the day when Annapolis comes alive with flowers.
Every business and many homes were festooned.
People flocked to photograph the bouquets.
It felt so springy!
In our wanderings, we also found this mural, which we fell in love with. The rowers reminded us of our daughter Ruth’s days rowing on the Severn River with her crew, and it was lovely to see so many aspects of the Chesapeake Bay displayed, from birds to watermen to the retriever.
We drove home on Sunday, arriving in time to unpack and eat supper.
Then I had to go for a walk. Sitting all day does not suit me.
And what a spectacle awaited me at our local Kimball Lake as the sun went down.
The stillness was so calming.
A friend in Annapolis had seen the Buddhist monks when they visited, after they walked 2300 miles from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington D.C., bearing witness to compassion, healing, mindfulness, forgiveness, and peace. The monks suggested to the crowd that each person write down, every day: “Today is going to be my peaceful day.” She has been doing this ever since and lets that message be the focus of her day. She has found it transformational.
And so, for each of us:
Today is going to be our peaceful day.

*Climb the Peak for MS is one month away!
I am so grateful to all those who have donated to my hike, raising money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, earmarked for research.
I am 98% of the way to my goal of $6500. How wonderful!
If you have not donated and would like to, here is the link to my team, Incredible Feets. Thank you so much!
