Blue-faced Honeyeater

This is NOT a bird I expected to see hanging out at a city park…

I mean…whoa.

In a tree, maybe. But…

on a picnic table?

But what do I know?

Though Blue-faced Honeyeaters are found mostly in northern and eastern Australia’s open woodlands, especially near water, they also frequent parks, gardens, orchards, and even golf courses.

Gorgeous coloration.

What a thrill to see these insect, fruit, and nectar-loving birds.

Never a dull moment when you’re birding in Australia!
