Dotty, I agree, peacocks are truly splendiferous creatures. Encountering them in their native habitat must have been quite a treat. Living in South Texas hill country as a teen, where we often heard Chuck Will's Widows at night and saw Roadrunners hogging the roads, I remember hearing the peacock's screeching calls from a distance. One summer evening I ventured out to find the source of the noise and was very surprised to find a male clumsily perched high atop a telephone pole with no other birds in view. Quite a comical sight.
